Students explored the concept of personal struggles through stories involving characters from Amelia Earhart to Martin Luther King, Jr, focusing on how their struggles led to their success. Connections to the big idea, From Struggle to Progress, were made through reflective writings.
Several artists’ work were studied to examine how the concept of struggle could be communicated through line, shape, color, text, etc.
Collaging allowed students to experiment with symbols, lines and color and text to express their ideas.
Finally, their personal experiences with struggle were shared using mixed media on canvas panels.
