Jeanine Rogers has been teaching at Pirie for 12 years, and this is her sixth year teaching 6th grade. When asked what she most enjoys about teaching language arts, Ms. Rogers replied, “I enjoy bringing literature that students otherwise may not be exposed to to life. When children truly read and feel what an author is trying to communicate, they have a different outlook on their possibilities and their abilities.”
Ms. Rogers felt her students interpreted conflict well but were not all able to communicate it. The students practiced this in the PDP classes by writing skits together that showed expressions of various types of conflict.
Ms. Rogers said, “The program was a good experience for the children and they benefited musically from it. I look forward to next year.”
