Arts Specialist:Tracy Netter – Visual Artist: Juan Carlos Perez
Our School New Sullivan school is a Magnet cluster Fine Arts school. Our school is located at 8333S. Mackinaw, Chicago Illinois. The school is considered part of the Sky way network of the CPS. New Sullivan school is committed to integrating Fine Arts into our already stellar school curriculum to better prepare our students to become productive and creative citizens in a global society. We at New Sullivan school have a strong, long standing relationship with our students, their families and the community at large. We take great pride in hosting cultural and educational events through out the school year that help to show case our students in various areas of the Fine Arts as well as the parents and extended family members of our school's population. New Sullivan is honored to have to Fine Arts programs housed at our school on a permanent bases. We have a full time Visual Arts Instructor and a full time music teacher/band instructor. We also host a number of student groups including the Native American dancers and the students Who perform Opera with the Lyric Opera of Chicago's Opera in the classroom. We hope to continue our success as a creative institute and artistic learning center in our community.
Mrs.Tracy M. Netter is a Visual Arts educator who has worked for the Chicago Board of Education for almost 20years. Tracy is a native Chicagoan who learned to become an artist from some of the finest schools in the country, from the Art Institute of Chicago and Saint Augustine's University in Raleigh North Carolina to Chicago State University and DePaul University in her home town of Chicago. Mrs. Netter has taught at several schools throught out the city of Chicago. Currently she teaches at New Sullivan Fine and Performing Arts Magnet Cluster Elementary School,where she has had the pleasure of working and learning with the teaching artist and staff members from the C.A.P.E organization. During the three years that she has worked with this particular organization she has found it to be the most rewarding for her students. Through the C.A.P.E. networking system Mrs. Netter has had the opportunity to work with the Education department at the SAIC, The Intuit Art Gallery and University of Chicago (Near South side Elementary School Art Exhibition). C.A.P.E has also been very instrumental in helping Mrs. Netter organize and promote parent/community workshops and Artist studios. Mrs. Netter has a joy for teaching and learning that has spanned almost 2 decades and she hopes to continue her studies as an Artist to become better at helping her students and anyone she can help explore their creative spirit. bio
Juan-Carlos is a studio artist who partners with art organizations such as Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education (CAPE), Chicago Public Schools, community centers, park districts, etc. teaching a variety of arts including modern, cultural, and mural making through out the city of Chicago. His teachings have brought him into numerous neighborhoods through out the city Chicago, Detroit, and West Africa.
